This is difficult……………

to find work in this sour economy! I will admit I haven’t had a lot of time to keep up with this blog due to my current job as a consultant. I’m grateful to have the work as unemployment was pretty tough on us this past couple of years. It did allow me to seek some education in the Web Design field, for which I am grateful.

Moving forward I still plan to stay abreast of the many Web Design ideas, which will keep me interested. I guess I just hit a wall, which I will knock down block by block. I’m not giving up, rather I will motivate myself to be more creative.

Between my job and some remodeling in our coach I’ve stayed pretty busy, so all is not bad.

Stay tuned as we endeavor to make this all work out.

A Brand New Day

On this Easter Sunday we are so grateful to live in the Land of the Free, and the Home of The Brave! Please pray for our troops who are not able to spend time with family!

We are about to head out to Fredericksburg, TX for some sightseeing. While we are in this area we hope to see as much as possible.

Not much else to update since I started work, but continue to hope someone will require our services to build a web site for their RV Park.

Have a Blessed Day!

New Location

A lot has happened since my last post. I accepted a job for about 6 months in Jarrell, TX. Acting as a consultant for a brand new concrete block plant. I won’t go into a lot of detail, but just say that the owners and plant manager have never worked in a concrete block plant. There will be a huge learning curve for them.

I was contacted by my previous employer who had recommended me to the owners. I had my doubts until I met with them, the offer was very good. At least now we can plan for our summer trip to Cody, WY and the Great Pacific Northwest to visit with family and friends.

I will continue my web design work as I enjoy it so much and look forward to that venture. I had to quit college as this job will demand so much of my time, which is OK for now. I’ve taken all of my web design classes anyway, so I’m all prepared to keep learning on my own. Lynda.com is a great resource and will keep up my education with them.

We moved from Abilene to Georgetown, TX and found a great RV Park to stay for the duration. The only bad situation is that for the past three days it has been very cold, below freezing. Then we woke up to snow on the ground this morning. Very unusual for this location, last snow was 2007.

That’s about it for now.

Website Mock-Up

I decided to make a mock-up of what a simple, clean crisp website would look like. I felt I needed to display something in the Gallery page until we get some business. This was by far the quickest one I have done. I really like working with Fireworks CS4. It seems to be more user-friendly than Photoshop for website design.

We are now “Live”!

We decided to go live yesterday for a couple of reasons. It was my Dad’s 88th birthday and we finally finished the remodel of our bedroom! Dad is in good health and going strong. It’s a testament to his lifestyle and genes. His Dad lived to be 92.

We are excited to begin this new chapter in our lives. Are we nervous, you bet! The economy is not that great but people still like to “Get outa Dodge” and see this great country. There is so much to see and do that it would take a couple of lifetimes to see all there is. Take for instance, Yellowstone National Park. This is a great example of what to see and experience.

Yellowstone National Park

One of the Magnificant Wonders of The United States

We hope to be able to visit the park this year and attend an Eagles International bus rally in Cody, WY. That’s one of the pleasures and treasures of our lifestyle, full-timing in our bus conversion. It has taken us to places we might not have had the opportunity to visit and have fellowship with new friends. What a joy!

Please take time out of your busy lives to experience God’s beauty and experience nature to it’s fullest! It’s one of the few things in life that will bring so much joy and excitement.

New Web Site is ……………….

really taking shape! I’m soooo stoked! I purchased a new Image Rotator yesterday and sure do like the results! Real easy to work with in Dreamweaver, nice control panel for settings, and the appearance is spectacular!

I had tried the freebies but did not get the one I had chosen to work. I’m sure it was the code that was giving me problems, but I just didn’t have the time to mess with it. I had already spent two days looking for one and another day doing some code. The one I got from Project Seven works like a charm, had it up and running in about 10 minutes! I’m going to try to make one up in Adobe Flash CS4 when I have more time.

This is a couple of screen shots of how it looks!

I’m still tweaking here and there, with just two pages left to make up. The Details and Rages pages will be the last I work on. Need to really be careful here as it must be specific and accurate. I know changes can be made later, but I’m afraid I won’t have the time once my classes start back up.

Anyway, it is taking shape and I’m anxious to “Go Live”!

OK Guys and Gals, I’m getting closer to……

Coming up with my final design, at least for now! 😉

I’ve decided to continue my original thought of using Photoshop, then slicing and dicing it up and letting Dreamweaver handle it. So far it’s really taking shape!

I had thought of using a design template from online because I was getting pretty frustrated. Even downloaded what I thought would look good, but it doesn’t have the personal touch that this will have.

I’ve included a Wikimapia link on one of the pages to show our current location, it’s pretty cool! Also have included a link to this blog. Now I’ll have to watch my peas and cues!

Y’all have a great evening!

Still Working on the Web Design!

I’ve changed my mind so many times it’s not funny! I started using Dreamweaver CS4, didn’t like it at all. Then went to Photoshop CS4 and now I’m on my fourth design. I can’t seem to come up with anything I really like enough to make me happy.

I’ll continue to search and work on it until I think it’s good enough, then move on!

In the mean time I’ve been building another cabinet in our bedroom that will house the TV, electronics and clothes. It’s coming along very nice, just stained the doors and waiting to put on the final touches. That is is the last cabinets, all out of solid red oak. Whew!

Life is soooo good!

A Day in the Life of a Bus Nut…….

For those who are new to the bus conversion world the term Bus Nut refers to anyone who is crazy, er I mean nuts, to tackle such a hobby! Hobby you say, well it’s more of an obsession I believe! Owning a bus is not for the faint of heart, but building one is even more scary.

Yesterday as I was remodeling a remodel, you know the kind of work that is re-working what you already have done in the past. It seems that we are never happy with letting things be, we have to make changes. When I started this project back in ’03 I never dreamed that I would still be working on it still 7 years later. I figured that I would have it completed in 3 years, boy was I wrong! Anyway…….As I was running the water lines for the shower, you know the ones that normally have hot on the left and cold on the right. I marked the lines with H and C. You think that it should have been enough of a reminder, but Oh No. Standing facing the valve on the back wall I hooked them up, H on left and C on right. Tested to make sure it all worked, fantastic, no leaks. I then covered it up with plywood as this was the back wall of a cabinet. As I went my merry way on doing various other projects, time and life seemed to have a mind of its own.

Fast forward to 2007, our first year to actually use the coach and take it to our first Bus Rally. It just happened to be the first year for what is now known, Texas Bus Roundup. That’s another story in itself. We had a shower and working plumbing, a place to sleep and it was in our own bus. Can’t get any better than that huh.

I decided to take a shower for the first time, in the bus I mean. Turned on the water and for some reason the water was cold, you’re about to learn a bit of wisdom. I checked everything, breakers, leaks and it dawned on me that as I hooked up the water for the shower I had it backwards. Yip, in my “I can do it right myself” mood I had made a huge mistake. Well I fixed it yesterday!

You’re probably saying “What took you so long?”. Well I’m a bit embarrassed to say, I told myself I would get to it one day, instead of fixing right then and there.

It came time that I needed to take the time and make it right. You see, I’m building, or redoing, a new cabinet on the back of the shower wall, for our folded clothes. Crossed the lines so that Hot was on the Left and Cold on the right, standing in the shower facing the diverter valve! Whew, finally. Well you’ve heard of Murphy right, no leak the first time but now have one this go around. Rat’s! I quickly found out you can not reuse the compression fittings over and over. At some point they just won’t seal correctly! So I hop in the car and drive down to Lowe’s to get some parts. They do not handle stuff like that, only Pex Sharkbite push lock fittings. So I hop in the car and go down to Home Depot, the same stuff there. I ended up buying enough goodies to replace both lines down to where the other/old lines were connected. No leaks! Hot dang, finally got it fixed after all this time.

This little project/repair/redo, should only have taken an hour at tops! Here it was about three hours later and finally am able to get started on the project that lead to this project in the first place!

Moral of the story is, oh heck I think you get the picture……………….I took a very much-needed shower and thought to myself, “You done good”.
